GOLD RUSH
Arrow River, Arrowtown, South Island, NZ
In a reflection of its gold panning history, the area surrounding the Arrow River is also imbued with a Midas touch that turns everything into gold. In the trees lining the Arrow’s meandering banks and paths, in sections of the river where it slows and gathers in pools, and in the air as it comes alive with thousands of golden leaves on their downward decent, Midas works his golden magic.
This work was inspired by a desire to portray the many intricate ways the colours of Autumn are woven into the landscape, using colour and light to portray a sense of enchantment and wonder.
